Design Briefing
To provide a floor that has an authentic American origin and matches the colour which underpins the design of the Hilfiger store concept.
Ground level, the floor resembles an old oak ship deck. Strips of 3” (8cm) wide reclaimed Antique Oak with heavily bevelled edges. The edges, wormholes, nail holes and cracks were washed with a dark brown stain and finished with three coats of a gloss, water-based polyurethane. The lower basement floor is Antique Oak, laid out in wider boards of 5”–10” (12-25cm) with a Chestnut stain with high traffic sealer. The stair treads, between the store levels, are 14” (35cm) Antique Oak boards in matching finish.
