Natural vs Stained

NATURAL VS STAINED

The main differences between natural wood and stained can be very dramatic. Some prefer the look and authenticity of the natural wood colour and you can easily choose between the spectrum of light, to medium to dark.

However, with the developments in stains over the years to be more colour fast and now environmentally friendlier, the choice of colour on your floor is simply endless.

Using wood Lye’s, which react with the tannin in certain woods, will achieve a very natural looking stain. Aging agents also react this way giving each board its own characteristic. Smoking or fuming will also react with each board differently and in some cases the result can be quite dramatic. But the most dramatic of the ebonyandco treated looks has to be the Marron (roasted) process. This can completely change the colour of the wood. Red Oak will become an alternative to Wenge, Birch an alternative to Teak. The stability of these woods, following our Marron process, is phenomenal. So much so that the wood can be used externally for decking. This is ideal for those looking to run their floor out into the garden.

At ebonyandco we say that we are limited only by the designers imagination and this has certainly become the case, with the vast choice of colour and treatment options available.
