Designer’s Apartment in Moscow

To achieve a home full of character, Russian architect Alexandra Fedorova handpicked Continental Ash planks with a footworn character and a dark-grey custom developed finish.

    Apartment, Russia
  • Floor:
Continental Ash planks in random widths (18-31cm) with a straight-lined footworn appearance and custom finish.

The vertical surface pattern of the walls continues at floor level with Continental Ash planks in random widths (18-31cm) in a dark grey custom finish. The footworn marks bring character and texture to the floor.
Wood and walls work great together. Federova chose Continental Oak Rift and Quarter Sawn in a custom finish.
Some rooms such as the study were given a floor in lighter grey finish.
“Where and how you live shapes your mood.” For her private home, Alexandra Federova playfully blends straight lines with curvaceous shapes.

The apartment’s rectangular layout is typical to the constructivist architecture of the House on the Embankment. The architect enhanced this feature by choosing for straight lines, iconic furniture and real materials.
“Personally, I’m finding it easy to design for myself.” Federova enriches her design palette with current design favourites and lasting materials, such as our Continental Ash wide plank flooring.
